Weather has a big impact on much of what happens at Middle Island Point. In the summer it affects what we do every day - and it’s a major safety concerns for boaters. In the winter it has everything to do with getting in and out of the association - and the way we enjoy the back country. Below are some links that can be helpful in planning for activities that are weather dependent.

“SEAGULL” Surface Water Temperature Map:
“WINDY” . This platform (web and smartphone app available) is a really full featured weather service that delivers a lot of information displayed for both current-state and future situations. The more you explore this platform, the more valuable you’ll find it. It has very good radar features. I (DP) recommend the subscription model for anyone really interested in watching the weather. Tip - zoom in on Marquette and MIPCA and plant a location flag - then go though each of the display options (wind, waves, temp, etc) and scan across time using the timeline slider.:

Marine Traffic. This service shows the current shipping traffic on Lake Superior - and really everywhere. It’s interesting to watch how the Great Lakes freighters adjust their routes to stay safe as large storm systems sweep across the lake.:
