Originally purchased from Mr. Charlton, the builder of the camp and local architect, by Lydia M. Olson in 1908 for $200 furnished! The library at NMU is named after Ms. Olson who was in the first graduating class of the “Normal School” and helped establish the library there. The camp has been in her family since then.
